AKDN agencies conduct their programmes without regard to faith, origin or gender.NurseThe positionWe are seeking a qualified and experienced Nurse to provide high-quality, professional nursing care to students and staff, while promoting and supporting optimal physical, mental, emotional, and social wellbeing within the school community. The role integrates clinical care, health promotion, safeguarding, and effective collaboration with parents, staff, and external health professionals to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:
  • ​​Provide day-to-day nursing care to students, including first aid, illness management, and emergency response.
  • Assess, manage, and document student health concerns, injuries, and medical conditions.
  • Administer medications safely in line with medical prescriptions, school policy, and legal requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individual healthcare plans for students with chronic or special medical needs.
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies involving students and staff, coordinating referrals where necessary.
  • Promote physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing through health education, awareness programmes, and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in compliance with data protection and safeguarding policies.
  • Work closely with safeguarding teams to identify and respond to child protection or wellbeing concerns.
  • Liaise with parents, teachers, counsellors, and external healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care
  • Support infection prevention and control, including health screenings and immunisation follow-ups where applicable.
  • Advise school leadership on health-related policies, risk management, and wellbeing initiatives.
The requirements
  • At least a bachelor's in clinical medicine / Nursing /EMT from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in similar position
  • Certificate of Registration from the Clinical Officers/ Nursing Council/EMT
  • Microsoft office skills
  • Previous experience a school environment is an added advantage.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
