About the RoleThe Circulate Initiative is seeking a skilled and self-driven Program Associate to support the implementation of projects under the Responsible Sourcing Initiative (RSI) in Africa and help establish and coordinate the Responsible Sourcing Network Africa. The Program Associate will be responsible for ensuring the effective execution of these projects and achieving their objectives. This role demands strategic thinking, strong project management skills, and a deep understanding of the social and environmental challenges in recycled plastics supply chains.This is a full-time contractor role, reporting to the RSI Africa Lead. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with colleagues and partners across regions.TasksKey Responsibilities
  • Support in project implementation and coordination in Kenya and Ethiopia.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to team members and consultants working on RSI projects in Africa.
  • Support the organization and facilitation of multi-stakeholder meetings, workshops, and virtual/in-person convening.
  • Assist in preparing materials for external representation at network meetings, conferences, forums, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Support the establishment and growth of a network of organizations engaged in recycled plastics and circular economy initiatives across Africa.
RequirementsKey Competencies
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in program or project management, ideally in social impact or circular economy.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with human rights due diligence, waste management and plastic recycling landscape or circular economy policy frameworks (such as extended producer responsibility).
  • Proven ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder programs.
  • Demonstrated experience working with informal sector actors, government agencies, or international development partners.
  • Tenacious attention to detail, with excellent organizational, time management and multitasking skills.
  • Values intellectual rigor and transparency; willing to ask for help or admit what one does not know.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
