Starting Salary:Monthly allowancePATHWAYS INTO THE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY GRADUATE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMMEThe Pathways into the Digital Technology Graduate Internship Programme is a year-long internship directed at Information Technology (IT) graduates who are seeking to enter the Digital Technology Sector. The internship is designed as a professional development and training opportunity where the successful candidate will gain the knowledge and experience to establish a solid foundation to begin a career, in this sector.Position: InternLocation: Kenya Office (Nairobi)Duration: 12 monthsThis internship will be provided with a monthly stipend.Purpose:Development Pathways Kenya is part of an international organisation, Development Pathways, which recognises the need to build the next generation of IT professionals through work exposure.Therefore, the purpose of this internship is to provide recent Information Technology graduates, who are seeking to establish a career in our sector, with the much-needed support, professional development opportunities, teaching and mentoring by our experienced team digital technology team.Professional Development:This programme will provide varied learning opportunities including both formal professional development experiences as well as informal but valuable work experience and shadowing.Throughout the year, you will work alongside and learn from the Digital Technology team in systems analysis, system design, system development and system implementation.You will learn from practical experience through engagement in both technical and operational roles within the company. Some specific areas for skill development include:
  • Research, scoping and feasibility study
  • Software development
  • System analysis and design
  • System implementation
  • Client and consultant management
  • Budget management
  • Project logistics management
  • Digital communications (Twitter, LinkedIn etc.)
  • Graphic design for digital platforms
  • Proposal writing
You will have the opportunity to attend both internal and external training courses, workshops, and technical learning sessions on a range of topics that will be set out in a detailed internship programme.Programme structure:A detailed programme structure will be developed with the successful candidate covering the following digital technology competency areas:
  • Research, architecture, mapping, feasibility studies and reviews, audits, and assessment,
  • System analysis and design,
  • System development,
  • System testing, and
  • System documentation.
During this time, you will support the teams by engaging in a variety of tasks that will broaden your understanding of our position within the digital technology arena regarding the international development sector: from learning to build/maintain bespoke software solutions for developing country governments to support with project management and business development.You will report to a designated senior member of the team.Person Specifications:
  • A university degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or Information Technology with a minimum qualification of upper second-class honours.
  • Need to have graduated in the past 12 months.
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English, and good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to work both within a team and independently.
  • Outstanding time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Proactive, with a positive can-do attitude.
