- Install solar panels, inverters, batteries, and other solar components according to design specifications.
- Mount solar arrays on rooftops, on ground and other structures and surfaces securely and efficiently.
- Connect solar PV systems to electrical grids or battery storage systems while following safety protocols.
- Perform system testing after installation to ensure optimal performance and compliance with standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams for solar system installations.
- Connect solar panels to inverters and electrical distribution systems safely and efficiently.
- Ensure proper grounding and protection measures to prevent electrical hazards.
- Identify and resolve electrical faults, ensuring compliance with electrical codes.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on installed solar systems and BESS.
- Diagnose and repair system malfunctions, including inverter issues, panel failures, and wiring faults.
- Upgrade or replace defective components to enhance system efficiency and lifespan.
- Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and system performance reports.
- Adhere to local and international electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Follow workplace safety procedures, including the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
- Train and guide junior technicians on best installation and safety practices.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and site supervisors to execute solar installation projects.
- Sensitize clients on system operation, maintenance, and energy-saving practices.
- Provide feedback on system improvements and report any project challenges to management.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Solar PV Technology, or a related field.
- At least Seven (7) years' experience in solar PV system installation, maintenance, or electrical work.
- Certification in Solar PV Installation (e.g., T1, T2, or T3 under EPRA regulations in Kenya) is a must.
- Strong understanding of solar technology, electrical systems, and grid interconnections.
- Demonstratable experience with solar inverters, charge controllers and battery storage systems.
- Knowledge of local building codes, electrical regulations, and safety procedures.
- Technical proficiency in solar panel installation and electrical wiring.
- Demonstrate understanding of different monitoring parameters for solar production optimization.
- Proactive problem-solving skills in troubleshooting and solving system faults to address system downtime.
- Physical fitness to handle rooftop installations and work in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail for accurate wiring and system configuration.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Strong communication skills for internal and external client interactions and reporting.
- Licensed Electrician or EPRA-certified Solar PV Technician.
- Experience with hybrid and off-grid solar systems with BESS.
- Knowledge of solar energy software and performance monitoring tools.
