- Allocation of duties to staff.
- Supervising staff to do their work to the required standards.
- Conduct periodic performance appraisal for staff.
- Keeping books of accounts.
- Overseeing preparation of meals and snacks for the kids.
- Organizing activities and developing curriculum for older children.
- Developing a schedule for the children to maintain throughout the day.
- Keeping records including of each child's progress, interests and any problem that may occur.
- Maintaining contacts with the children parents and contacting them in case of an emergency.
- Preparing children progress reports and accounts reports to resource partners.
- Ensuring the children have a good hygiene and play areas are clean throughout the day.
- Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor from time to time
- Diploma or Certificate in Early Childhood Education(ECDE)
- At least to 3 - 5 years' experience working in a childcare setting
- Experience working closely with children between 0 to 4 years of age
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Diploma or higher in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), Child Development, Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a childcare, early childhood education, or child protection setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or administrative role.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with demonstrated experience overseeing caregiving staff, daily operations.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems for maintaining childcare attendance, enrollment, and developmental records.
- Understanding of child protection policies and safeguarding protocols, with experience in implementing them in an institutional or community setting.
- Experience working directly with children aged 0-4 years, with a deep understanding of early childhood development milestones.
- Strong communication skills for engaging with parents, caregivers, and stakeholders, including writing reports and conducting parent meetings.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively, especially in dynamic or high-pressure environments.
- Knowledge of nutrition and hygiene standards relevant to childcare settings.
- Commitment to promoting gender-sensitive and inclusive childcare environments.
- Nurture and care for children while parents are at work.
- Supervise children while they are playing outside.
- Coordinate with the Administrator organize activities and implement curricula that stimulate children's physical. Emotional, intellectual and social growth.
- Report any unusual incidents/ behavior to the Program Officer/parent.
- Ensure children have adequate supplies from home such as clothes, diapers etc.
- Perform any other duties assigned from time to time by your supervisor.
- Certificate in early childhood education, child development or related field.
- At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in caring for young children, including in formal childcare centers, daycares, or as a professional nanny in a home-based setting.
- Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and co-workers.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for nurturing and supporting the development of young children.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling children's welfare and family matters.
- Basic understanding of nutrition and hygiene practices related to young children's care.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the evolving needs of children in dynamic childcare settings.
- Plan and prepare the budget for the kitchen in consultation with the Administrator as appropriate
- Preparation of balanced and healthy meals for the children.
- Ensuring that the prepared meals are served on time.
- Keep regular inventory of kitchen equipment and supplies and re-ordering stock as needed.
- Ensuring that cooking utensils are clean before and after use.
- Cleaning food preparation areas and ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in the kitchen.
- Ensure proper storage of food supplies.
- Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor from time to time
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a cook in a professional kitchen environment. Experience in food preparation for large groups such as schools or daycare centers, is preferred.
- Experience in menu planning and meal preparation for children is beneficial.
- Knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety principles, and proper sanitation practices.
- Familiarity with a variety of cooking equipment and kitchen tools.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces, including tables, chairs etc.
- Properly dispose waste, replace garbage bags and ensure waste areas are clean.
- Check, prepare a list of cleaning supplies such detergents, hand wash etc.
- Replenish toilet papers in the washrooms and ensure all the rest rooms are clean for use.
- Cleaning food preparation areas and ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in the kitchen.
- Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor from time to time
- High school diploma (KCSE)
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a cleaner.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
