Job Purpose
  • The Chief Security Officer shall provide an advisory role to management on matters security and coordinate security services and activities within the institution to provide a safe environment. The Chief Security Officer shall report to the Vice Chancellor.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Manage security investigations within the university to ensure fast resolution of any incidents and thus assure staff and students of security and safety
  • Direct and control all security operations in the university to ensure smooth operations and enhanced security within the university especially during occasions.
  • Coordinate intelligence gathering within the university to keep abreast with the activities of the university and thus advice management accordingly
  • Develop and implement security policies within the university to ensure compliance to security standards
  • Enhance disaster/ emergency preparedness within the university through training and drills
  • Act as a link between the university and government security agents who can provide support to the university's security function
  • Ensure proper supervision of outsourced security service providers to ensure security of the university
  • Ensure availability that security equipment is functional and are properly maintained to keep them ready for use in case of an emergency
  • Ensure maintenance of all security registers and documents in the university
Job Specifications
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Master's degree in criminology, Forensic Investigation, Security Management or relevant field.
OR
  • Bachelor's degree in in criminology, Forensic Investigation, Security Management or relevant field.
  • Must have nine (9) years' experience, 3 years of which as Senior Security Officer Grade 11 in the University or equivalent.
  • Computer literate
  • Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Be registered with a professional body and in good standing.
