Expansive investment in latest technology and medical equipment has enabled us establish leadership in medical procedures both in Kenya …Biomedical TechnologistREF: TNH/HHR/BT/03/2026The overall purpose of the job is to carry out routine checks, repairs, preventive maintenance, and calibration/verification of biomedical equipment in order to ensure that all equipment is working optimallyROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Install, inspect, repair and carry out preventive maintenance on biomedical equipment which are found in ICU, Theatre, Renal, Radiology Laboratory, Physical Medicine and Wards equipment in line with manufacturers' recommendations, ISO 13485 for quality management, ISO 14971 for risk management, and IEC 60601 for electrical safety;
  • Carry out daily routine checks of the oxygen PSA and compressor plant, manifolds, vacuum plant, Reverse Osmosis Plant, dialysis machines and theatre equipment e.g anaesthesia machine ensuring the comply with established operating standards;
  • Keep records of all checklist, job cards, PPM schedules and tasks as performed in line with requirements;
  • Calibrate equipment in order to ensure the right parameters have been set using various calibration equipment such as fluke prosim 8;
  • Handle all biomedical equipment job requests assigned.
  • Create test procedures for the hospital's biomedical equipment in line with established guidelines;
  • Participate in equipment or process validation activities;
  • Maintain medical equipment within the hospital and outpatient centres in line with environmental, health and occupational safety regulations;
  • Supervise the repairs of contracted equipment by the suppliers
  • Prepare daily reports in line with requirements; and
  • Any other responsibility that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Diploma in Biomedical Engineering or any other related field from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience
