SAPTA College is looking for an excellent trainer with great people skills for a full time position for a period of one year with a possibility of extension. The trainer will conduct in person training, online synchronous and asynchronous sessions. The position is based in Nairobi and the person reports to the Training manager.Responsibilities
  • Designing training materials for including manuals, schemes of work, lesson plans, and PowerPoint etc
  • Determining which training methodologies are most appropriate for various situations and audiences based on knowledge of learning styles and instructional design principles
  • Facilitate/teach courses in the area of addiction counseling
  • Participating in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments and provide the results within the set deadlines.
  • Conducting class observations and reviewing data on student attendance
  • Understanding of current developments within the SUD field.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and making recommendations for improvements To participate in trainer meetings.
  • Providing necessary support to learners to ensure a conducive learning environment is maintained
  • Assessing the needs of learners and responding in a timely and effective manner
  • Identifying and helping in addressing and resolving student behavioral issues in liaison with the relevant department
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the Executive Director or his representative from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, counselling, education or related fields Knowledge of SUD counseling & management
  • Training in TOT/TOF
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Training Facilitator or a similar role
  • Registered by TIVETA as a trainer
  • Experience in using a learning management system (LMS)
  • Ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)
  • A member of a recognized professional body,preferably addiction related
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Sound knowledge of traditional and modern educational techniques
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with adult learners
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues
  • M.A/MSc (Counseling/Psychology or related) will be an added advantage
  • Preference given to ICAP certified candidates
