- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the FOSA and Credit departments in line with the SACCO's overall strategy.
- Supervise and lead the FOSA and Credit teams to meet financial goals and enhance operational efficiency.
- Drive the execution of the department's strategic initiatives to grow the SACCO's loan book, while ensuring minimal risk exposure.
- Ensure the alignment of credit and FOSA activities with SACCO's strategic objectives and targets.
- Management of retirees and high net worth accounts
- Provide technical support in credit management, ensuring the effective implementation of credit policies, procedures, and risk controls.
- Grow a quality loan book by implementing strategies to increase loan uptake while minimizing non-performing loans (NPLs).
- Monitor loan portfolio performance, identify risks, and implement corrective measures to ensure a healthy credit portfolio.
- Lead efforts in timely recovery of amounts due, ensuring debt collection processes are efficient and compliant with credit policies.
- Provide regular reports and analysis on loan book performance, credit risks, and recovery strategies to senior management.
- Lead the development and review of SACCO products to ensure they are responsive to the changing needs of members.
- Analyze market trends and members need to propose new products or modify existing ones, ensuring competitiveness and relevance.
- Collaborate with the marketing and business development teams to promote new and existing products to maximize member uptake.
- Ensure the products offered align with the SACCO's goals of financial inclusion, member satisfaction, and loan portfolio growth.
- Develop and implement member service standards to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction in FOSA and Credit operations.
- Supervise front-office operations, including teller services, ensuring the accurate and timely handling of transactions such as savings, deposits, and withdrawals.
- Resolve escalated member complaints related to loans, savings, and other services promptly and professionally.
- Continuously assess and improve service delivery processes to enhance member satisfaction and engagement.
- Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and SACCO-specific policies in all credit and FOSA operations.
- Oversee the credit risk management process, including loan assessment, approval, and monitoring to minimize credit losses.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, such as CRB reporting and Central Bank regulations.
- Lead audits of the FOSA and Credit operations and ensure implementation of recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
- Providing monthly reports to Management and Credit Committee on the recovery status of each non-¬performing loans, with clear recommendations on the way forward or closure.
- Liaising with the Finance team to ensure appropriate adjustments are made to the provisions for bad & doubtful debts per the required guidelines in order to comply with IFRS requirements.
- Preparation of monthly insurance premium schedule for submission to the insurance company;
- Drive the implementation of strategic initiatives outlined in the SACCO's strategic plan, ensuring timely execution and delivery of results.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on the performance of FOSA and Credit operations, including strategic initiatives, loan book growth, credit risks, and recovery efforts.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of departmental performance reports and financial statements.
- Lead and develop the FOSA and Credit teams, providing ongoing training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Set goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) for team members to ensure optimal performance and accountability.
- Foster a high-performance culture within the department, encouraging teamwork, innovation, and commitment to excellence.
- Develop a risk management framework for the credit function and review status monthly
- Monitor the loan portfolio to ensure all loans are recovered as scheduled follow up on loans whose repayments are not received and ensure a quality loan book.
- Communicate with the loan defaulters and their guarantors to ensure defaulted loans are fully recovered as per the default management policy.
- Providing monthly reports to Management and Credit Committee on the recovery status of each non-¬performing loans, with clear recommendations on the way forward or closure.
- Liaising with the Finance team to ensure appropriate adjustments are made to the provisions for bad & doubtful debts per the required guidelines in order to comply with IFRS requirements.
- Preparation of monthly insurance premium schedule for submission to the insurance company;
- Proactively drive in uptake of loans and mobilizing savings, working with Business development team to develop product promotions and campaigns

- Bachelor's degree in Business Management (Finance $ Banking)
- CPA (K) or Professional credit qualifications
- Credit Management training
- At least 8 years of experience in SACCO, with a focus on FOSA, credit management, customer service, debt collection, and product development.
- 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to provide strategic direction.
- Expertise in credit risk management, loan book growth, and debt collection processes.
- Demonstrated ability in product development and market analysis.
- Excellent customer service and relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Sound knowledge of SACCO regulations, financial services, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage and work with financial software systems.
