They see the causes of poor health as complex and nuanced - so do we.Job SummaryLwala is seeking for a reliable and experienced driver who will be responsible for safely transporting personnel, equipment and supplies to various locations as required. His/her primary focus will be ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.Duties and ResponsibilitiesVehicle and Motorcycle Management and Control
  • Ensure adherence to LCA policies and regulations regarding the maintenance and operation of the assigned vehicle/motorcycle.
  • Safely drive the vehicle/motorcycle for assigned errands and trips, maintaining professionalism and adherence to road safety standards.
  • Handle transported goods with care and deliver them to their destination safely.
  • Maintain security of the vehicle/motorcycle while stationed or during trips.
  • Timely pick up and drop off of clients and goods according to instructions.
  • Uphold order and discipline among passengers and ensure compliance with organizational rules.
Vehicle and Motorcycle Maintenance
  • Conduct daily checks to ensure the vehicle/motorcycle is in good running condition, including oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires.
  • Perform minor repairs and coordinate other necessary repairs.
  • Promptly report any mechanical defects to the Supervisor.
  • Arrange and ensure regular maintenance checks and servicing of the vehicle/motorcycle.
  • Keep the vehicle/motorcycle clean and tidy, both inside and out.
  • Maintain essential equipment, including a standard toolkit, spare tire, first aid kit, and fire extinguisher.
  • Report vehicle/motorcycle faults to the supervisor and coordinate necessary repairs.
Documentation and Record Keeping
  • Maintain accurate trip logs, documenting daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, and other relevant information.
  • Keep up-to-date records of trip sheets, incident reports, accident reports, and vehicle/motorcycle condition reports.
  • Prepare reports as required by management.
Safety and Security
  • Ensure passenger safety during transportation and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Verify the presence of necessary statutory requirements and documents, including first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and inspection certificates.
  • Ensure the validity of vehicle/motorcycle insurance policies and initiate renewal processes in advance.
  • Educate passengers on safety regulations and guidelines.
General Responsibilities
  • Perform delivery services and other messenger duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate referrals and community outreach with the Clinician on duty.
  • Ensure the generator is fueled, serviced, and maintained in good condition.
  • Assist in clerical duties and inventory management as directed.
  • Uphold a positive corporate image to stakeholders and visitors.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum KCSE qualification
  • AA driving certification of competency preferred.
  • Clean and valid driving license Classes A2/B2/C1 new classification
  • Government Trade Test III in mechanics.
  • Training with the National Youth Service (an advantage).
  • Certificate of good conduct.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably driving an institutional or company vehicle/motorcycle.
  • Ability to work and relate well with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficient in English and Kiswahili communication.
  • Organizational skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of road transport rules and regulations.
  • Ability to undertake minor vehicle repairs.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting road signs in English.
  • Must be a born-again Christian and an active church member (letter of recommendation required)
