- Collect and analyze investee’s governance, credit management, financial information and ESG information and ensure that the information is stored on the shared drive.
- Actively monitor current investees by performing monthly, quarterly, semiannual and annual analytical reviews for internal or external parties.
- Assess investee’s risk profile as well as the economic, political, natural disaster.
- Assist in the investment selection process of target investee companies operating in the clean cooking, access to energy and financial intermediation sectors.
- Participate in negotiations with potential investees to define investment terms, led by more senior Investment Team members.
- Prepare investment proposals to be submitted to the Investment Committee.
- Assist other Investment Team members with preparation/presentation of investment proposals.
- Plan and prepare due diligence trips to current and potential investees.
- Meet minimum monitoring due diligence time for current investees.
- Prepare Country Risk Analysis detailed reports identifying key risks (economic, political, industry, natural disasters, etc.) and mitigation factors as well as updating existing reports.
- Support and assist preparing loan documentation, negotiating and closing the transactions.
- Support in the creation of portfolio analysis reports required by supervisors, Portfolio Management Team, Senior Management Team and/or investors.
- Perform research and monitor financial markets, collect and report information on investees and support other departments in identifying new business opportunities, building pipelines and expanding business.
- Initiate and maintain communication with current and prospect investees.
- Supervise work of junior team members including proofreading/evaluation of analytical work.
- Engagement in the development of internal tools and procedures.
- Participate in technical task forces and support management teams.
- Contribute to new product development.
- Degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
- At least 7-10 years of working experience in areas such as banking, impact investment or economic development.
- Previous experience in investment management.
- Experience to operate financial and ESG due diligences of financial institutions and/or renewable energy companies is preferred.
- Demonstrate interest in impact investing, emerging markets development, SDG’s initiatives, green energy or energy transition projects. Demonstrated interest in the impact investment industry.
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Thorough understanding of the due-diligence, client selection and distribution and financing processes in the access to energy and financial and credit sectors and skills in performing due diligence.
- Skills in assessing investment risk and developing investment proposals.
- Aptitude to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, flexible with “hands-on” approach.
- Capacity to identify critical issues, pragmatic approach to analysis of data, information and facts.
- Capability to draw appropriate conclusions from the information available.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in a professional manner.
- Ability to freely communicate within the language of doing business at the Regional Office.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Proficiency in French is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel.
- Available to travel regularly to visit potential / existing investees in their operating countries in Africa
