- Bachelor's degree in Education , Arts or Science from a recognized institution and a post graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized institution;
- Master's degree in any of the following disciplines: education, arts, Project Planning & Management, Education Communication and Technology, science, or business administration in a management related field from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
- Knowledge and relevant work experience of not less than six (6) years and has at least three (3) years' experience at management level;
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative capability.
- Coordinate the implementation of county and national education policies, programs, and projects.
- Supervise education officers and ensure effective service delivery in all education sectors within the county.
- Provide technical leadership in the development and implementation of strategic plans for education.
- Oversee quality assurance in ECDE centers, primary schools, and other learning institutions under the county's jurisdiction.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of education programs and submit periodic reports to county leadership.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of capacity-building programs for education personnel.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including school boards, parents, community leaders, NGOs, and government agencies to promote inclusive and quality education.
- Support the development and maintenance of education infrastructure and learning resources.
- Prepare budget proposals and manage resources for education programs at the county level.
- Represent the county in education forums, committees, and inter-county initiatives.
- Promote the integration of ICT in education, inclusive education, and lifelong learning initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks in the education sector.
- Address disciplinary matters, grievances, and administrative issues within the education department.
- Plan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against the set targets
