- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, potential markets, and new geographic areas for expansion.
- Analyze competitor activities, market demands, and customer behaviors to inform strategic decisions.
- Monitor industry developments to keep the company ahead of competitors.
- Identify and evaluate potential retail and wholesale locations for expansion, including assessing foot traffic, consumer demographics, infrastructure, and competition.
- Perform site visits and assess the feasibility of new locations for opening retail stores, distribution centers, or other key touchpoints.
- Establish and nurture relationships with landlords, property owners and other stakeholders critical to the expansion process.
- Engage with local governments and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with local laws and obtain necessary permits for new business ventures.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Franchise, sales, marketing, operations) to align expansion strategies with the company’s broader goals and objectives.
- Assist with the preparation of business cases, presentations, and reports for new expansion opportunities.
- Support the negotiation process for new agreements, partnerships, and contracts related to expansion.
- Work with the finance team to conduct cost-benefit analyses, ensuring each expansion opportunity is financially viable.
- Present findings and recommendations based on market research and site assessments, including ROI projections and risk evaluations.
- Monitor competitor strategies and movements in the FMCG sector to identify opportunities for differentiation and areas of potential growth.
- Provide timely feedback to the business development and senior management teams regarding any potential threats or opportunities.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation related to all potential and active expansion projects.
- Regularly update the management team on progress, findings, and recommendations related to expansion opportunities
- Bachelors in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in business development, expansion, or retail operations within the FMCG sector or related industries.
- Proven track record of successfully identifying and assessing new locations and markets for expansion.
- Strong understanding of wholesale and retail FMCG markets.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Solid understanding of financial analysis and ROI evaluation.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant business software.
- Has supervisory experience on a field based team.
- Has computer soft skills and can write and present reports.
- Willing to work in last mile field areas.
- Licensed motor vehicle driver.
- Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Detail-oriented and organized with strong time management skills.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
