Today, we're one of the leading manufacturers of roofing products with over 10 distribution centersAssistant AccountantWe are looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Department. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role will support the finance team in managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reconciliations, and compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements.Key Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Sage ERP preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Competencies
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Process and maintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivable.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure timely posting of journal entries into the accounting system.
  • Monitor company expenses and support cost-control initiatives.
  • Support tax filing processes (VAT, PAYE, withholding tax).
  • Prepare supplier reconciliations and follow up on outstanding issues.
  • Assist in inventory accounting and participate in physical stock counts.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of all financial records.
  • Monitor petty cash usage and prepare replenishment reports.
  • Provide audit support by preparing schedules and documentation.
  • Participate in budget preparation and cash flow forecasting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting systems and procedures.
