University Hostels Caretaker/Manager

As the Hostels Manager/ warden, your work involves overall responsibility for the Hostel, the

needs of the students, overseeing  all the operations of the Hostels and supervision of The Center  Staff;

 Ensure room allocation to students is undertaken to provide accommodation to the students every semester in line with the respective University policies.

1. Perform regular checks on security around hostels and within the hostels to ensure safety is guaranteed to the students;
2. Ensure cleanliness in the hostels by supervising casuals for purposes of having the hostels clean and safe for students’ accommodation;
3. Inspect the hostel rooms, entire building and equipment on a daily basis to ensure proper maintenance of the property and arrange for repairs to be carried out as needed.
4. Check on health, safety, and deal with emergencies - contacting doctors, or community nurses when needed
5. Undertake marketing initiatives in order to increase the occupancy levels of the Hostel
6. Deal with acts of indiscipline of students. reporting cases of serious disorderliness to the appropriate officials
7. Coordinate the activities of the student’s cafeteria and ensure the quality of food
8. Communicate with the parents/guardians of the students if needed in order to ensure transparency in the management of Hostel and provision of relevant rules.
9. Coordinate the suppliers including receiving, inspection, payment and  reconciliation of all accounts and settlements as needed
10. Act as the custodian and in-charge of all the hostel properties, and verify the stock periodically.
11. Keep records of all the Hostel operations including monthly payroll disbursement & pay slip distribution and supervise the work of hostel staff
12. Compile relevant reports for action and make monthly returns of students’ bed occupancy returns for management use
13. Provide periodic reports to the Director of the Hostel as required.
