- Monitor compliance with legal and statutory requirements of the organisation as well as market participants as per SRO requirements;
- Conduct regular compliance reviews and audits to identify areas of noncompliance and implement corrective actions as needed;
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports to relevant authorities in a timely and accurate manner;
- Carry out real time surveillance of market activity and provide an early warning alert on market irregularities detected;
- Examine transactions showing irregular movements based on day-to-day surveillance of market movements and information obtained from various sources including public and undisclosed information affecting securities;
- Identify exceptions to usual patterns of dealing and recommend further investigations against market participants suspected of contravening market rules and regulations;
- Prepare a daily surveillance report outlining the day's trading activity and any actual or suspected breaches of market rules and regulations;
- Assist the CLRO with conducting necessary investigations related to potential and actual breaches; and
- Undertake analysis of financial statements and other material submitted to EABX by its members to ensure ongoing compliance with exchange rules.
- Minimum five (5) years relevant work experience in the capital markets;
- Possession of professional qualifications such as CPA, CISI, CFA or FA;
- Proven experience in regulatory affairs or compliance within the financial services industry;
- In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, including securities laws, exchange rules, and market regulations;
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills in all aspects of work;
- Sound judgment and integrity, with a commitment to upholding ethical standards;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders;
- Strong analytical skills to analyse complex data and derive meaningful insights; and
- Strong work ethic consistently delivering high-quality results and meeting deadlines with dedication and diligence.
