SummaryReporting to the Chief Legal and Regulatory Affairs Officer (CLRO), this role will ensure that the organization operates within its legal framework and complies with all relevant regulations. The role will work with the CLRO to ensure market participants operate within the set rules of the Exchange in accordance with the Exchange's Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) mandate. The Regulatory Affairs Manager role will also conduct daily and real time market surveillance with a view to maintaining a fair, efficient and transparent market.Roles and duties * Develop, implement, and review legal policies and procedures to ensure that they are in accordance with the existing legislation;
  • Monitor compliance with legal and statutory requirements of the organisation as well as market participants as per SRO requirements;
  • Conduct regular compliance reviews and audits to identify areas of noncompliance and implement corrective actions as needed;
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports to relevant authorities in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Carry out real time surveillance of market activity and provide an early warning alert on market irregularities detected;
  • Examine transactions showing irregular movements based on day-to-day surveillance of market movements and information obtained from various sources including public and undisclosed information affecting securities;
  • Identify exceptions to usual patterns of dealing and recommend further investigations against market participants suspected of contravening market rules and regulations;
  • Prepare a daily surveillance report outlining the day's trading activity and any actual or suspected breaches of market rules and regulations;
  • Assist the CLRO with conducting necessary investigations related to potential and actual breaches; and
  • Undertake analysis of financial statements and other material submitted to EABX by its members to ensure ongoing compliance with exchange rules.
Minimum Qualifications and Key Competencies * Bachelor's degree in commerce, business management, law, or a related field;
  • Minimum five (5) years relevant work experience in the capital markets;
  • Possession of professional qualifications such as CPA, CISI, CFA or FA;
  • Proven experience in regulatory affairs or compliance within the financial services industry;
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, including securities laws, exchange rules, and market regulations;
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills in all aspects of work;
  • Sound judgment and integrity, with a commitment to upholding ethical standards;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong analytical skills to analyse complex data and derive meaningful insights; and
  • Strong work ethic consistently delivering high-quality results and meeting deadlines with dedication and diligence.
