Job DescriptionThis role will be responsible for providing critical support to the firm and its practitioners in respect of all firm independence related matters through:
  • Monitoring and reviewing processes within DESC and FCT (i.e. validations, updates, quality reviews and correspondence and any related matters).
  • Maintaining an understanding of applicable DPM rules and definitions including materiality calculations.
  • Addressing more complex queries raised by the business and Global.
  • Timely reconciliation of various data sets (i.e., CRM to DESC, DESC to GIMS).
  • Monitoring compliance with Global Verification timelines, ensuring accuracy and completeness of reporting.
  • Reporting to Global Independence on required DESC confirmations.
  • Supporting the implementation of strategy of the QIRR Independence Area in relation to specific area of expertise.
  • Providing technical and specialized independence support to engagement teams and Service Line Risk Leaders to manage the client portfolio.
  • Providing Subject Matter Expert Training, both for internal teams as well as to other Service lines.
  • Regular collaboration with AQR.
  • Roll-out of new independence requirements to the Firm.
  • Developing, updating, and maintaining systems, templates and processes and manuals.
  • Liaising with various service lines and independence teams across Deloitte Africa.
  • Providing reporting to DOI on a regular basis.
  • Roll-out of communications with respect to subject matter areas and consultation procedures in line with the communication strategy.
  • Providing guidance, monitoring and supervision of those reporting into the role.
QualificationsMinimum QualificationsCA (SA) or equivalentDesired QualificationsRelevant business-related tertiary qualification:
  • A compliance, risk, audit, or independence background.
  • Professional service delivery.
  • Understanding of a regulatory environment and ability to interpret and apply technical rules in a practical way.
Minimum Experience
  • 5 years working experience (at least 2 years in a manager role).
  • Knowledge of the applicable regulatory bodies (IESBA/IFAC/SEC/PCAOB etc.) applicable to the audit environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant South Africa Companies Act requirements affecting an audit environment. (Section 90(2)).
