The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK) was established in 1958 as a non-governmental organization (NGO). The overall objective of the organization is to improve the Quality of life of Persons with Disabilities through promoting Rehabilitation and Inclusion.Program CoordinatorKey Responsibilities
  • Project Management Support: Assist in developing work plans, coordinating activities, and ensuring timely execution of project goals, particularly targeted mobilization and job placement in green companies.
  • Capacity Building: Facilitate sensitization and capacity development for institutions on disability inclusion strategies, including accessibility screenings and audits.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a key point of contact for partners, mobilize companies for participation, and facilitate workshops on disability inclusion.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Support data collection and analysis, contribute to progress reports, and document project lessons learned.
  • Beneficiary Support: Help develop recruitment criteria, ensure competitive selection of beneficiaries, and support trained individuals in securing employment opportunities, especially in renewable energy and e-mobility.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Disability Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in project coordination or support roles, preferably within the NGO sector in Kenya.
  • Proven experience working on projects related to disability inclusion, gender equality, youth empowerment, or economic development.
  • Familiarity with the Kenyan context regarding disability issues and employment challenges.
  • Experience in coordinating training programs and data collection for M&E.Technical & Soft Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team with a proactive, problem solving mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with diverse stakeholders, including persons with disabilities.
  • A strong commitment to APDK’s mission and values.
Bonus Points if you have:
  • Prior experience working with GIZ or other international development partners.
  • An understanding of green economy sectors (renewable energy, e-mobility).
  • Experience working in an inclusion context.
  • Knowledge of local languages prevalent in project areas within Kenya.
