- Prepare financial reports of the station.
- Maintain all necessary accounting records (electronic and hard copies).
- Prepare/review payroll of IITA Kenya and reconcile the payroll accounting general ledgers.
- Spearhead financial and operational framework as maybe developed from head quarter on a regular basis.
- Spearhead the management and implementation of Oracle modules or system automation at the station as maybe required from HQ.
- Check for accuracy before payment of government taxes and ensure prompt payment.
- Supervise accounts assistant’s work.
- Supervise expense claim returns using the I-Expense module and processing of claim forms for payments.
- Supervise the payment of procurements Claims.
- Participate in internal and external audits by providing auditors with support documents as requested and provide explanations for audit queries.
- Training and advising newly recruited staff on IITA financial policies and procedures.
- Prepare monthly Cash and bank reconciliation.
- Prepare bank transfers and other letters to the bank.
- Timely filing of all required tax returns and other statutory requirements of the country.
- Ensure staff compliance with finance-related policies (e.g Travel, EC, Procurement policies)
- Maintenance of asset register and it's reconciliation
- Draw up roster in conjunction with HQ fixed assets office for station asset verification exercise.
- Expected to be a member of the fixed asset disposal committee in the station.
- supervisee station e-filing processes.
- Any other duties as may be assigned.
- Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting or related courses from a reputable University, MSc will be an added advantage
- Professional Accounting certificate or qualification e.g. ACCA or local equivalent.
- Ability to work in diverse teams.
- Demonstrated ability in problem-solving and customer satisfaction.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in English. Other languages would be an asset.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, but also participate as a team member in the accomplishment of duties.
- Strong ability to coordinate, prioritize, and organize workload; take initiative.
