YMSL is a financial services organization that models itself after the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh. We use a group-based lending methodology and work exclusively in rural and peri-urban Coastal Kenya. Yehu offers savings and a variety of loan products to its clients. Credit officers travel by foot, or on motorbike to meet weekly or bi-weekly with clients, 80% of whom are in the remote Coastal villages in Kenya.ICT & System AdministratorKEY SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • ICT Governance & Delivery
  • Drive ICT project execution by providing technical input, provisioning systems, conducting UAT, supporting rollouts, and coordinating upgrades/patches with vendors.
  • Strengthen ICT governance through enforcement of policies, change management controls, asset and configuration documentation, licenses, and compliance with organizational values, code of conduct, and procedures.
  • Manage vendor and service performance by overseeing SLAs, maintenance contracts, system support activities, and performing delegated duties in the absence of the HICT.
  • Digital Transformation & Analytics
  • Strengthen data and systems integrity by ensuring security, availability, accessibility, data extraction capability, system performance, and seamless data integration across business functions.
  • Drive digital innovation through development and management of BI dashboards, analytics reports, cloud platforms, APIs, and contribution to new digital applications and system functionalities.
  • Expand and automate the digital ecosystem by deploying and managing digital platforms, automation tools, and the Document Management System to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • Systems & Infrastructure Operations.
  • Manage core infrastructure by installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, storage, virtualization, operating systems, databases, middleware, and network connectivity (LAN/WAN, VPNs, Wi-Fi, bandwidth).
  • Sustain system performance and security through monitoring uptime/capacity, managing user accounts and directory services, executing antivirus, patching, firmware updates, upgrades, and preventive maintenance, while maintaining configuration baselines and documentation.
  • Ensure business continuity by managing backups, restores, and system recovery processes, and providing technical evaluations to support procurement and optimization of ICT infrastructure.
  • ICT Security & Compliance
  • Strengthen security posture by configuring and managing firewalls, antivirus/endpoint protection, enforcing access controls and user roles, applying security patches, hardening systems, and administering corporate email (Office 365).
  • Protect organizational data through encryption, secure storage, backups, vulnerability remediation, monitoring logs/alerts, troubleshooting application issues, and supporting incident response.
  • Drive compliance and governance by supporting system updates, user training, change management, and ensuring adherence to ISO 27001, Data Protection Act, internal ICT policies, and facilitating internal/external security audits.
  • ICT Service Delivery & Resilience
  • Deliver operational reliability by running CBS EOD/EOM/EOY processes, generating exception reports, administering core systems (CBS, ERP, HR, CRM), performing system health checks, tuning performance, and monitoring databases.
  • Resolve service disruptions by troubleshooting and resolving system, network, application, and database incidents within SLAs, maintaining help desk tickets, conducting RCA, providing end-user support/training, maintaining a knowledge base, and identifying procedural gaps and training needs.
  • Strengthen business continuity and resilience by ensuring system redundancy, executing backups and DR procedures, maintaining DR infrastructure (replication/failover), conducting regular BCP/DR tests and restore drills, and meeting defined RTO/RPO targets.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree Information Technology, Computer science, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in system administration or IT support roles, preferably in financial services.
  • Certifications relevant to ICT project management and at least 3 of the below certifications:
  • CompTIA Server+ for hardware/software support fundamentals.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy).
  • CompTIA Network+ - for basic networking and infrastructure.
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or Azure Fundamentals.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) - basic routing/switching skills.
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate - in IT service management.
