- Lead, supervise, and develop a remote RCM team including billers, coders, AR specialists, and denial staff across all 9 practice locations
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular one-on-ones, and deliver timely, constructive feedback to direct reports
- Manage staffing levels, workload distribution, and team capacity to ensure all billing functions are covered efficiently
- Recruit, onboard, and train new billing team members on practice systems, workflows, and performance standards
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development within the RCM team
- Own the full revenue cycle from charge capture and claim submission through payment posting, denial management, and AR resolution
- Ensure claims are submitted accurately and on time across all 9 locations and all payer types
- Monitor and manage AR aging buckets, ensuring accounts are worked within appropriate timelines and escalated as needed
- Oversee denial management and appeals processes, ensuring high-dollar and complex accounts receive timely, expert resolution
- Review and approve write-offs, adjustments, and escalated account resolutions within established authority limits
- Track, analyze, and report on key RCM performance metrics including clean claim rate, denial rate, days in AR, collection rate, and net collection percentage
- Prepare and present monthly RCM performance reports to practice leadership and the CFO
- Identify trends, variances, and performance gaps and develop action plans to address them
- Build and maintain RCM dashboards and reporting tools that provide real-time visibility into billing performance across all locations
- Benchmark performance against dermatology industry standards and drive continuous improvement toward best-in-class metrics
- Ensure all billing and coding practices comply with federal and state regulations, payer contracts, and CMS guidelines
- Oversee HIPAA compliance within all RCM operations and maintain appropriate safeguards for protected health information
- Manage payer relationships and serve as the escalation point for complex payer disputes, contract issues, and credentialing matters
- Stay current on dermatology-specific coding updates, payer policy changes, and regulatory developments affecting the revenue cycle
- Coordinate with compliance and legal counsel on audit responses, overpayment refunds, and payer investigations as needed
- Evaluate and optimize RCM workflows, tools, and systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and collections performance
- Lead implementation of process improvements, policy updates, and technology enhancements across the billing function
- Develop and maintain billing policies, procedures, and training materials for the RCM team
- Collaborate with practice management, clinical staff, and IT on front-end improvements that reduce denials and improve charge capture
- Identify automation opportunities and work with vendors or internal teams to implement solutions
- Partner with practice administrators and office managers across all 9 locations to resolve billing issues and improve front-end workflows
- Collaborate with clinical leadership on documentation improvement, coding accuracy, and charge capture completeness
- Provide RCM guidance and education to non-billing staff to reduce preventable errors and improve overall revenue performance
- 5 or more years of medical billing and revenue cycle experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
- Demonstrated experience managing a billing team in a multi-location healthcare, specialty, or dermatology practice
- Strong knowledge of the full revenue cycle including charge entry, coding, claim submission, payment posting, denial management, and AR
- Working knowledge of dermatology CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding across medical, surgical, and cosmetic service lines
- Proficiency with practice management and billing software used in specialty or dermatology settings
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret RCM metrics, identify root causes, and drive measurable improvement
- Strong leadership and communication skills — you can manage performance, deliver feedback, and develop people effectively
- Comfortable working in a fully remote leadership role with a distributed team
- Direct experience managing RCM operations for a dermatology, plastic surgery, or aesthetics practice
- Experience with Modernizing Medicine (EMA), Nextech, or similar dermatology-specific EHR and billing platforms
- Familiarity with Availity, Waystar, or similar clearinghouse and payer portal platforms
- CPC, CPMA, CHBME, or other relevant billing, coding, or healthcare management certification
- Experience building or scaling a remote RCM team from the ground up
- Background in payer contract negotiation or credentialing management
