  • The role of the Teacher Assistant is to facilitate the holistic development and growth of learners and provide continuous implementation of the Early Years Program. In addition, the Teacher assistant will create a play-based learning environment.
Key responsibilities:
  • Ensure continuity and progression in learner's learning by working closely with the class teacher in ensuring teaching work at the right level and delivering appropriate levels of challenge.
  • Use a variety of teaching and learning strategies in order to match curricular objectives and meet the need of all learners.
  • Through prior discussion and collaborative planning, work with class teachers to maximise the learning of all learners.
  • Use positive behaviour management to create mutual respect and safe environment to promote learners' self-esteem and learning.
  • Be responsible for assessment, recording and reporting for the learners you teach to inform future planning, teaching and curricular objectives.
  • Keep up to date with research and development in pedagogy and the subject area.
  • Cover for absent colleagues as is reasonable, fair and equitable.
  • Take responsibility for Health and Safety matters for the area you teach and report any matters that are a hazard to those working at or visiting the school.
  • Strive for professional development through the active involvement in the school's line management / performance management system.
  • Be involved in the extra-curricular activities of the school by contributing to clubs and trips.
  • Be proactive and always be ready to take up any other duties.
  • Adhere to school timings and proper dress code.
The requirementsQualifications and experience:
  • KNEC ECD Certificate/Diploma.
  • Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration certificate.
  • Certificate of good conduct.
  • Knowledge of Early Years Program Teaching.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multicultural collaborative team and environment.
  • Be conversant with the use of technology as a teaching and learning tool.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of pool equipment and safety measures.
