Reporting to the Chairperson, the job holder will support the Department by performing the following tasks:
- Teaching both Diploma and undergraduate students
- Setting, marking, and processing results for units offered to diploma and undergraduate students.
- Supervising and marking research projects for diploma programmes.
- Supporting departmental work, such as working with senior colleagues and professors in research projects.
- Supporting the departmental examination coordinators in the smooth running of the examination offices.
- Any other work that will help the department achieve its strategic objectives by serving on the Departmental committee.
- Any other work that may be assigned by the Head of the department.
- Master’s Degree in Sociology and/or Gender and Development Studies from a recognized institution.
- Teaching experience at the university level will be an added advantage.
- Applicants must be prepared to pursue a Ph.D. in Sociology and/or Gender and Development Studies.
- Registered or willing to pursue a PhD Degree in Sociology or Gender and Development Studies will be an added advantage
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Self-driven and willing to support the departmental academic objectives
- Demonstrate strong commitment to scholarship by collaborating with scholars and members of academic staff at the Department and the University.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills to work with staff and students.
- Have a strong appetite for innovation and creativity to develop solutions to the attendant social issues that affect society.
- Commitment to complete their doctoral studies within the stipulated time of three (3) years.
