
Payroll Accountant

- Process and manage monthly payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements (PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, HELB, etc.)
- Maintain up-to-date payroll records and ensure timely submission of statutory returns
- Prepare and post payroll journals to the general ledger
- Coordinate with HR on employee contracts, onboarding, exits, and benefits administration (e.g., medical insurance, pensions)
- Handle payroll reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan labor laws and internal policies
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes
- Support preparation of financial statements and audit schedules
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist in general ledger maintenance
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes related to staff costs
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and company information
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and audit requirements
- Support internal and external audits related to payroll and employee costs
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with a Big 5 firm
- Proven experience in payroll processing and financial accounting
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Sage 300, Dynamics 365) and Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability
