- Support the Head of Tax in designing and implementing tax-efficient structures for reorganizations and transactions.
- Identify and apply for relevant tax exemptions, incentives, and breaks to reduce tax liabilities.
- Offer transaction advisory on exits, acquisitions, and asset transfers with a focus on tax optimization.
- Lead efforts to recover tax refunds from the Kenya Revenue Authority to enhance cash flow efficiency.
- Internal Compliance Oversight:
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews and implement robust controls to ensure tax compliance.
- Oversee timely and accurate preparation of tax computations as part of periodic reporting.
- Review financial transactions monthly to ensure timely and optimized tax return filings.
- External Compliance Oversight:
- Manage KRA audits, inquiries, and verifications to ensure adherence to regulatory obligations.
- Handle tax disputes with a strategic approach to preserve value and achieve favourable outcomes.
- Oversight of Offshore Entities:
- Ensure compliance for Centum’s Mauritius and other offshore subsidiaries, including tax and statutory reporting, and alignment with governance standards.
- Facilitate targeted tax training for business units, finance, and investment teams.
- Prepare and distribute tax updates, explaining legislative changes and strategic implications.
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Accounting, Finance, or any business-related field.
- CPA (K) qualification.
- Additional training or certification in tax law will be an added advantage.
- 3–4 years of experience in tax, preferably within a consulting firm or legal/tax advisory firm.
- Prior experience in handling multi-jurisdictional tax matters.
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting tax statutes, handling tax disputes, and engaging with tax authorities (e.g., KRA).
- A legal background with a focus on tax law will be highly desirable.
