Job Purpose
  • To deliver effective clinical instruction, supervision, and mentorship to nursing students in nephrology care settings, ensuring the application of theoretical knowledge into safe, ethical, and evidence-based clinical practice while supporting the achievement of competency requirements stipulated by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide structured clinical instruction and supervision to nursing students during nephrology nursing clinical placements.
  • Guide students in the application of nephrology nursing theory to hands-on patient care in approved clinical learning environments.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support students to achieve required competencies and clinical learning outcomes as outlined by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment and evaluation of students’ clinical performance using approved assessment tools and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Provide constructive feedback and identify areas for improvement, including implementation of remedial learning plans where necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to patient safety protocols, infection prevention and control standards, and ethical nursing practice during training.
  • Participate in the development, review, and implementation of clinical training plans, assessment tools, logbooks, and learning resources in line with the set requirements.
  • Monitor and report on student attendance, clinical exposure, and achievement of prescribed training hours.
  • Collaborate with tutors, clinical staff, and training institutions to ensure seamless coordination of clinical learning.
  • Maintain professional standards, regulatory compliance, and institutional policies in all clinical instructional activities.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BScN) or its equivalent, in an institution recognized by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Higher National Diploma in Nephrology Nursing from an institution recognized by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • A Master's degree in Nursing will be an added advantage.
  • At least three (3) years relevant work experience.
  • Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Valid practice license from the Nursing Council of Kenya
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya
