Protection Engineer at Amotech Africa

• Review and interpret MV/HV protection and control system designs, including relay settings, protection schemes, and wiring diagrams.
• Review and interpret OEM specifications, client requirements, and project standards.

• Lead technical aspects of projects from inception to completion.
• Prepare and review project proposals, technical specifications, and budgets.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, subcontractors, and OEM partners to ensure seamless execution.
• Lead a team of project engineers (power systems protection & control)

• Develop testing and commissioning plans for MV/HV systems.
• Lead on-site testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of protection and control equipment.
• Prepare test reports and ensure compliance with applicable standards.

• Act as the primary technical liaison with clients, OEMs, and stakeholders.
• Conduct technical presentations and training for clients and team members.
• Provide post-installation support and troubleshooting.

• Ensure all designs and installations comply with international and local standards (IEC, IEEE, etc.).
• Maintain knowledge of emerging trends and advancements in MV/HV protection systems.
• Develop and implement quality assurance procedures.

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 4-6 years of experience in system protection and control engineering
• Extensive experience working with MV/HV protection products and systems
• Knowledge of power system components such as CT's, VT's, Meters, Circuit Breakers, Load Break Switches, Vacuum Contactor etc.
• Proficiency in protection relay configuration and testing tools
• Strong understanding of power system protection principles and schemes.
• Familiarity with SCADA and communication protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus, etc.)
