Are you a strategic actuarial leader with a passion for financial innovation and risk management? The organization, one of Africa’s most dynamic and inclusive financial institutions, is seeking a Head of Actuarial Services to lead its actuarial function in Nairobi, Kenya. This role offers the opportunity to shape actuarial strategy, support financial reporting, and contribute to sustainable growth across the region.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead actuarial valuations and solvency calculations to support financial stability.
  • Provide actuarial input into financial reporting and management information.
  • Conduct experience investigations to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Drive the implementation of IFRS 17 and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Manage reinsurance arrangements and obtain regulatory approvals.
  • Perform asset-liability matching and stress testing to optimize financial resilience.
  • Deliver actuarial projections for budgeting, planning, and business forecasting.
  • Calculate technical provisions, embedded value, and new business profitability.
Requirements To Meet Prior To Applying:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of actuarial experience, preferably in banking or insurance.
  • Strong knowledge of solvency management, financial reporting, and IFRS 17.
  • Experience with reinsurance and actuarial modeling tools.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Professional actuarial certification (e.g., ASA, FSA, and FIA) is highly desirable.
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to Nairobi, Kenya.
