- Prepare and submit customs declaration forms, import/export entries, and excise documentation through KRA iCMS/Simba system.
- Classify goods correctly using HS codes and ensure accurate duty/tax calculations.
- Verify supporting documents (invoices, packing lists, permits, certificates) for compliance with customs requirements.
- Ensure timely processing of declarations to prevent delays in product release.
- Maintain updated knowledge of Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), KEBS, and EPRA regulations affecting petroleum imports and storage.
- Liaise with KRA officials, clearing and forwarding agents, and transporters to resolve clearance issues.
- Work closely with depot operations and finance teams to ensure smooth product receipt, storage, and dispatch.
- Provide accurate updates on declaration and clearance status to depot management.
- Maintain accurate records of all customs documentation, including entries, receipts, permits, and approvals.
- Reconcile customs records with internal inventory and financial systems.
- Prepare periodic reports on customs declarations, duties paid, and compliance metrics for management review.
- Identify and escalate potential risks in customs clearance (e.g., incorrect tariff codes, valuation issues).
- Ensure all declarations and documentation comply with KRA and international customs regulations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate and timely customs documentation.
- Diploma or Degree in Clearing & Forwarding or Customs Administration.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in customs documentation and clearance, preferrably in KPC Depot.
- Advanced knowledge of ICMS, Kentrade, Asycuda, and related customs clearance systems.
- Sound knowledge of tariffs, HS codes, trade agreements, and oil and gas compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle high-volume documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Understanding of petroleum product clearance process.
