Job Purpose
  • To provide specialized diagnosis, treatment, and longitudinal follow-up for childhood cancers, integrating chemotherapy and multimodal care within KUTRRH's oncology and paediatric programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and diagnose paediatric malignancies using clinical assessment, imaging, and pathology.
  • Plan and administer systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) per protocols; monitor response and toxicities.
  • Coordinate multimodal care with surgery, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, and supportive services.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient oncology services, including emergency management of oncologic complications.
  • Counsel families on diagnosis, treatment options, consent, and survivorship care plans.
  • Participate in tumour boards, protocol development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support data collection, cancer registries, and clinical research/clinical trials where available.
  • Teach and mentor trainees and contribute to community awareness and early detection initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
  • MMed in Paediatrics and Child Health or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
  • Sub-specialty training in Paediatric Oncology or equivalent from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
  • Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • Recognition as a specialist/sub-specialist by KMPDC.
  • Retention in the KMPDC register.
  • Valid Practice License from KMPDC.
  • Valid Indemnity Cover.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
