CARE International is a major humanitarian agency delivering emergency relief and long-term international development projects.Communications ConsultantCARE Kenya seeks to engage an experienced Communications consultant who will strengthen visibility, craft impactful messaging, and support donor engagement through high-quality materials, events, and strategic partnerships. This consultancy will ensure that CARE Kenya's voice is consistent, professional, and aligned with its programmatic pillars and cross-cutting ambitions, ultimately driving resource mobilization and long-term sustainability.Scope of WorkThe consultant will be responsible for:
  • Strategy Development: Draft and implement a comprehensive communications and visibility strategy.
  • Content Creation: Produce high-quality materials (press releases, newsletters, reports, social media content, website and YouTube content, success stories).
  • Media Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with media houses, journalists, and influencers.
  • Digital Presence: Manage and optimize social media platforms and website content.
  • Capacity Building: Train staff on effective communication, branding, and media engagement.
  • Event Support: Provide communications support for workshops, conferences, and campaigns.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Track communication outputs and outcomes, providing regular reports.
Deliverables
  • Communications and visibility strategy document.
  • Monthly content calendar and social media analytics reports.
  • Press releases, newsletters, and success stories.
  • Media coverage reports.
  • Training sessions and capacity-building materials.
  • Final reports summarizing achievements, lessons learned, and recommendations (internal and external reports)
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in communications, preferably in NGOs or development sector.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience with digital media management and analytics.
  • Proven ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including government, donors, and communities.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
