This is a highly execution-focused role suited for a technically strong leader who is comfortable working on-site, managing multiple projects, and leading teams in a demanding operational setting.Key ResponsibilitiesWorkshop Operations & Technical Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day operations of welding, fabrication, construction, electrical, and carpentry workshops
- Manage installation, maintenance, and preventative maintenance of mining and plant machinery
- Ensure all workshop activities are aligned to operational needs and timelines
- Manage building works including civil construction, renovations, roofing, plastering, and finishing
- Support site expansion, upgrades, and infrastructure development projects
- Ensure all works are delivered to required quality standards and specifications
- Plan, coordinate, and execute workshop and construction projects within timelines and budget
- Work closely with engineering, plant, and operations teams to align on project requirements
- Manage contractors and external service providers where required
- Oversee inventory and spare parts management to ensure availability of critical materials
- Control workshop budgets, monitor material usage, and manage project costs effectively
- Ensure efficient utilization of resources and minimize wastage
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and compliance standards across all workshop activities
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to site regulations and procedures
- Maintain accurate job cards, work orders, and project records
- Provide regular reports on workshop performance, project progress, and operational metrics
- Lead and manage workshop teams, ensuring productivity, accountability, and performance
- Contribute as part of the broader site management team to support overall business success
Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in a workshop, construction, or industrial environment
At least 3–5 years in a supervisory or management role
Experience in mining, industrial plants, or large-scale construction environments is highly preferred
Hands-on experience in welding processes (MIG, TIG, ARC), steel fabrication, and structural works
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and building plans
Strong leadership, planning, and project execution capabilities
Proven experience in cost control, material management, and workshop operations
High safety awareness and strong compliance mindset
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and reporting skills
Computer literacy (Excel, reporting tools, work tracking systems)Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Welding Inspector or Welding Supervisor
- Experience managing medium to large-scale site fabrication or construction projects
- Registration with EBK is an added advantage
