  • Cumulative service period of (9) years' relevant work experience, three (3) of which should have been at the grade of Senior Accountant Officer or in a comparable position.
  • Bachelor's Degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting or Finance Option), Business Management/ Administration (Accounting or Finance Option) or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Certified Public Accountant CPA-K or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Been registered with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or any relevant professional body;
  • Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in computer skills; and
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Responsibilities:Duties and responsibilities entail:
  • coordinating implementation of financial accounting policies, strategies and plans;
  • ensuring timely payment of expenditures;verifying internal and external audit and responses to audit queries;
  • ensuring safe custody of cash, cheques, financial records and other accountable documents;

  • evaluating and scrutinizing expenditure proposal;
  • ensuring proper interpretation and implementation of financial regulations and procedures;
  • verification of payment vouchers and committal documents to ensure compliance to approved procedures, rules and regulations;
  • ensuring provision of quality and timely accounting services;
  • coordinating preparation of management and statutory financial reports;
  • maintaining an inventory on all bank accounts of the Research Fund and their approved signatories;
  • ensuring effective handling of taxation matters of the Research Fund; and
  • Authorizing payments and identifying suitable cheque signatories.
