
Sports Manager at Impala Club Kenya

- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Business, Kinesiology, or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in gym, fitness, or sports facility management
- Demonstrated ability to manage diverse teams and multiple sports operations
- Strong leadership, planning, and revenue growth experience
- Certifications in personal training or group fitness are an added advantage.
Key Duties and deliverables
- Attend Management and sports Sub- Committee meetings as required by the Club and present the Sports Monthly report.
- Plan and host indoor/outdoor fitness and wellness events, boot camps, fitness excursions, and wellness talks.
- Develop a year-round events calendar that blends fitness, wellness, and social fun to attract members and guests.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise fitness trainers and support staff to maintain exceptional service standards.
- Encourage ongoing staff development and upskilling.
- Expand wellness services beyond massage to include spa therapies, personalized wellness plans, nutrition sessions, and recovery therapies.
- Introduce a modern wellness menu and promote it internally and externally.
- Implement a scheduled preventive maintenance plan for all gym and sports equipment.
- Liaise with vendors and technical teams for prompt service and replacement.
- Establish a system for communicating with both current and former members to retain and revive interest.
- Create individualized fitness plans and loyalty programs.
- Maintain comprehensive health and fitness profiles for all users.
- Track individual goals, program participation, and personal training progress.
- Promote the gym and wellness programs to non-gym users within the club through demo days, referral campaigns, and incentives.
- Conduct outreach to local residents, schools, and corporate organizations to market club facilities and services.
- Form partnerships and sell packages for corporate wellness, sports days, and community fitness programs.
- Invite external guest trainers and introduce new formats to maintain excitement and member interest
- Monitor and grow revenue from gym memberships, fitness programs, wellness services, and events.
- Implement strict revenue control systems to seal leaks and ensure accountability.
- Collaborate with heads of soccer, hockey, tennis, rugby, swimming, squash, and athletics to create tournaments, leagues, and fun days.
- Organize age-specific competitions and offer prizes and recognition to increase participation and cross-engagement between sports.
- Encourage inter-club and inter-school matches, expanding the reach of the club as a community sporting hub.
- Design and market facility rental packages to schools, corporate teams, and sports teams looking for training grounds or tournament venues.
- Coordinate calendar scheduling and manage rental agreements with external clients to ensure availability and proper usage.
- The Sports Manager will report to the General Manager.
