- Maintain full and accurate accounting records using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Pastel).
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable; manage invoicing and collections.
- Perform bank reconciliations and manage petty cash.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement).
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and report on significant variances.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all statutory returns including:
- VAT (Value Added Tax) to KRA via iTax.
- Corporation Tax (Income Tax).
- PAYE (Pay As You Earn) and withholding taxes.
- NSSF (National Social Security Fund) and NHIF (National Hospital Insurance Fund) deductions and remittances.
- Liaise with external auditors and facilitate the annual audit process.
- Prepare the monthly payroll, ensuring accurate calculation of salaries, overtime, bonuses, and deductions (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, pension).
- Issue payslips and manage any payroll-related queries from staff.
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process: drafting job descriptions, advertising vacancies, shortlisting, interviewing, and conducting background checks.
- Prepare offer letters and employment contracts.
- Facilitate the onboarding and orientation process for new hires.
- Maintain and update employee records (personal files, contracts, leave records) in strict confidence.
- Manage employee leave, attendance, and timekeeping systems.
- Prepare HR-related letters (appointment, promotion, warning, termination).
- Support the performance management cycle, including appraisals and performance reviews.
- Implement and educate employees on company policies and procedures.
- Address employee grievances and provide basic counselling support in line with company policy.
- Assist in implementing set staff performance targets
- Together with the management team decide and implement the commission based on performance.
- Develop guiding departmental excel templates where applicable or as instructed by the line manager.
- Ensure compliance with the Kenyan Employment Act, 2007 and all other relevant labour laws.
- Handle staff exits and ensure clearances and final dues are processed as per the law.
- Any other duty provided by the manager in the spirit of team work
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A degree with a double major or minor in HR is a strong advantage.
- CPA K (Certified Public Accountant of Kenya) qualification is mandatory.
- Human resource management experience.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of proven experience in a similar dual role or in a full-charge accounting role with significant HR responsibilities.
- In-depth, practical experience using major accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Solid experience with the iTax platform and KRA procedures.
- Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of Kenyan accounting standards and tax laws. Strong understanding of the Kenyan Labour Laws and HR best practices.
- Software Proficiency: High proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems).
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports.

- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to interact with staff at all levels.
