
Climate Lead at CDL Human Resource

- Lead and manage a team of climate scientists and researchers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for the team members
- Ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of research outputs and projects
- Initiate and conceptualize research in climate-related areas such as (but not limited to): climate change mitigation and adaptation, anticipatory action; climate finance; climate innovation; nature-based solutions; green/circular economy
- Explore, promote and design innovative solutions and approaches to the climate crises within the innovation ecosystem
- Ensure outputs from climate team are aligned with the organization mission and strategic goals
- Resource mobilization and partnerships:
- Lead the design and development of climate science/climate research related proposals and concepts
- Collaboration with internal and external teams to secure appropriate partnerships and funding
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with academic institutions, humanitarian actors, government agencies and the private sector.
- Enhance the organization's visibility and foster collaborations through effective networking
- Advocacy and policy influence
- Coordinate closely with the organization,s policy team to ensure research and innovation initiatives within the climate unit results in advocacy materials to influence climate related policies
- Engage with policy-makers, stakeholders and the public to promote evidence-based climate solutions
- Represent the organization in external forums, conferences and meetings to disseminate the work within the climate unit
- Strategic planning and reporting
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the overall strategy for the organization
- Support in the monitoring of the organization overall objectives and achievements
- Prepare and present regular reports on project progress, income generation and impacts of the unit to senior management and to relevant donors
- Risk Management and Compliance
- Supports the HoD/Head of Programs in managing threats and opportunities that may affect their programs/departmental objectives.
- You have an advanced degree (Masters) in climate science, environmental studies or related field
- You have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a climate related field and knowledgeable on climate science, climate finance and/or nature based solutions
- You have at least three years' experience in leading and managing a team
- You have experience in developing proposals and securing grant funding for climate related projects.
- You have some experience in engaging with climate related advocacy and policy initiatives.
- You are creative and passionate when it comes to working together as a team and with like-minded partners to develop and/or adopt innovative solutions and approaches to emerging climate challenges.
- You have the ability to and are excited to work in a fast paced, agile and dynamic environment
- You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
