Cygnum Capital will soon assume the mandate for management of a dedicated debt fund to accelerate Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) deployment across Africa. We are looking for a talented investment professional with minimum 7 years of relevant experience to join the Asset Management team of the firm to help shape this new fund's success, focused on channelling capital through financial institutions and strategic co-investments. Working out of our Nairobi office, the position offers strong career progression, and you will gain exposure across a broad range of asset management services.What You'll DoAs an Investment Officer on this pioneering team, you will:
  • Source, structure, and execute private credit investments in the DRE sector across Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Focus on on-lending structures via commercial banks, MFIs, and other financial intermediaries
  • Lead transactions end-to-end-from origination and due diligence to execution and portfolio management
  • Support co-investments alongside development financiers and impact investors
  • Engage with local banks and DRE market stakeholders to unlock scalable financing solutions
  • Contribute to impact tracking, risk management, and fund reporting
Who We're Looking For?
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in private credit, blended finance, or DFI/impact investment-preferably with a focus on energy access, infrastructure, or financial inclusion
  • Proven experience investing in DRE across Africa, especially via on-lending models
  • Strong understanding of Africa's commercial banking landscape, particularly in Eastern and Southern Africa
  • Active network in African financial institutions and/or DRE sectors
  • Fluent in English; additional African language or French is a plus
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Nairobi, Kenya
  • Self-starter with sound judgment, strong credit skills, and passion for market-based climate solutions
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability with a high level of attention to numerical accuracy and detail;
  • Good team player but also able to work independently;
  • Self-motivated with ability to learn quickly and take the initiative to broaden own knowledge
  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Mathematics, Economics, Finance)
