The Science and Learning Support Teacher reports to the Head of Department (Science). In this dual role, the teacher will teach Science within the IB curriculum while also supporting inclusion by assisting colleagues in designing and implementing inclusive strategies, applying Individual Education Plans both in and out of the classroom and ensuring the continuous application of IB philosophies.Key Responsibilities:Student Identification and Support:
- Identify students with learning differences or those requiring additional academic support.
- Provide individualised instruction tailored to the unique needs of each student, particularly in science subjects.
- Apply diverse teaching strategies and resource-based activities to support differentiated instruction.
- Collaborate with science teachers to adapt lesson plans and assessments, ensuring inclusive and effective teaching methods.
- Continuously monitor student progress using individual, class, and school-wide assessments.
- Design comprehensive individualized reports and contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Recommend and implement effective intervention strategies within mainstream classrooms.
- Facilitate inclusive education by supporting students with mild to moderate learning challenges through differentiated instruction and accommodations.
- Coordinate with internal and external support services, agencies and professionals to ensure holistic student support.
- Lead and manage learning support programs and personnel within the school.
- Create a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters student confidence and engagement.
- Promote social-emotional and behavioral learning through proactive support strategies.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to Special Needs and Learning Support.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning to enhance teaching practices and student support.
- Support the school’s Strategic Focus Areas, particularly in Learning Design, Inclusion and Wellbeing.
- Be an active member of the school community, supporting interventions during and outside regular class time.
- Mentor extracurricular learning activities beyond the school day.
- May take on one or two lower science classes to help balance teaching loads within the department.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education Science with Special Needs specialization in learning difficulties.
- Certification in methods of educational assessments and access arrangements.
- 5 years’ teaching experience in an international curriculum school.
- Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration certificate.
