with the Kenyan Ministry of Information, Communications and The Digital Economy (MICDE). The aim of this dialogue is to shape an international framework for digital policy and transformation that benefits the Kenyan and German economies and societies.As a multi-stakeholder initiative, the Digital Dialogue provides a platform for direct exchange between policy makers, regulators, businesses, academia and civil society from Kenya and Germany. The dialogue addresses topics ranging from internet governance and data policy to the application of emerging technologies, and support for businesses in the digital economy. Regular discussions at government level are prepared and accompanied by stakeholders from both countries. These exchanges provide an opportunity to share best practices and learn from each other. Current issues can be discussed directly with policy makers and the involvement of the stakeholders ensures that political approaches and solutions meet current needs .Commissioned by BMDV, GIZ supports the Digital Dialogue with a secretariat. The secretariat
monitors current developments, implements cooperation activities and contributes to strategy building. In Kenya, the activities under the Digital Dialogue are planned and implemented in collaboration with the Digital Transformation Centre Kenya.ResponsibilitiesA. ResponsibilitiesThe Intern is responsible for:Supporting the effective implementation of activities outlined in the work plan of the Kenyan-German Digital Dialogue
- Supporting theengagement with the varying stakeholders from the private sector, academia and civil society on inputs, engagement and participation in the Digital
- Supporting the secretariat functions of the Digital Dialogue team in Kenya with admin,
public and private sector partners, civil society and academiaFacilitate expert exchanges, including preparation and note takingSupport the tracking of the work plan implementation and outputsSupport planning, procurement processes, financial management and monitoring of project activitiesStakeholder and network managementSupport in initiating and managing partnerships with government, private sector, academia, and civil society actors in KenyaSupport the coordination and management of a network of Kenyan stakeholders on different topics outlined in the work planSupport in ensuring positive and productive relations with stakeholdersMap relevant stakeholders and good practicesIdentify and engage new stakeholders on relevant topicsCoordination with MICDESupport the coordination with MICDESupport the facilitation of ministerial exchanges between both countriesSupport MICDE with the steering of the Digital Dialogue and stakeholder engagements with stakeholdersC. Other duties/additional tasksPerform other duties and tasks in the context of the Digital Dialogue as assignedContribute actively to reports (regular and ad-hoc), PR materials, and other related tasks to reporting and communication for the Digital DialogueSupport the identification of synergies with other projects and activities under the DTC KenyaD. qualifications, competencies and experienceThe Intern should have the following qualifications, competencies and experiences:QualificationsBachelor’s degree in political or social science, law or computer science or any associated fields like ICT policy, international relationsProfessional experienceInitial experience in digitalisation e.g. in the area of digital economy, digital government, data governance, emerging tech, cybersecurity or ICT policy e.g. through research projects, internships etc.
- Initial experience in project management (conceptualization, planning, coordination, steering, monitoring) is preferred but not mandatory
- Proven skills and experience in networking and fostering partnerships
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in both written and spoken English at a high level.
- Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team
- The duration of the internship will be 6 months
- The interns will be based in GIZ Offices in Nairobi
