At TakaTaka Solutions, We collect your waste like every other waste collector, but, instead of taking it to a landfill, we take it to our own sites, where we sort the waste, and then recycle 95% either ourselves or through our local partners. This represents one of the highest recycling rates in the world.Team LeaderPurpose of the Role:
  • We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Team Leader - Mixed Waste Sorting to lead a team of sorting staff and ensure efficient, safe, and effective operations at our Material Recovery Facility. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, quality control, and staff motivation within the sorting unit.
Qualifications & RequirementsEducation:
  • A diploma or degree in a related field is preferred.
  • High School Certificate (K.C.S.E Grade B and above).
Experience:
  • Proven experience in team leadership, supervision, or controlling a production team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/Google Sheets and other relevant applications.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Good data entry and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of recyclable and non-recyclable material composition.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of manpower utilization and operational efficiency.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management
  • Lead and motivate sorting staff to achieve operational targets.
  • Enforce and promote workplace safety, ensuring PPE use and equipment cleanliness.
  • Investigate and report accidents/incidents promptly with corrective action.
Operational Efficiency & Quality Control
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure sorting accuracy.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping within the sorting areas.
  • Keep accurate records of sorting data, attendance, and quality metrics.
Planning & Coordination
  • Work with supervisors/managers to develop sorting schedules.
  • Coordinate with logistics to minimize residual waste.
  • Support sales of recyclables through proper planning and documentation.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance planning and reporting worn-out equipment.
