- Coordinate all import shipments from order placement to final delivery.
- Liaise with suppliers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and clearing agents to ensure timely clearance.
- Ensure full compliance with KRA Customs (iCMS), KEBS, PVOC, Port Health, KEPHIS, and all regulatory bodies.
- Track shipments and provide updated ETAs to relevant departments.
- Prepare and verify import/export documents including invoices, packing lists, BL/AWB, and certificates of origin.
- Review customs entries for correct HS code classification, valuation, duty, and tax application.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits, compliance checks, and internal controls.
- Perform accurate landed cost calculations for imported goods.
- Support management in setting product prices and discounts based on landed cost, competitor analysis, and margin targets.
- Analyze the product mix to identify high-margin, fast-moving, low-margin, and slow-moving SKUs.
- Evaluate the impact of import-related expenses (freight, duty, handling, port fees, demurrage, storage, forex fluctuations) on pricing decisions.
- Recommend sourcing or pricing adjustments to maintain competitiveness.
- Provide detailed category performance analysis—revenue, margins, volume, and stock turnover.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels and prevent stock outs or overstocking of imported goods.
- Work with procurement and warehouse teams to manage inbound stock.
- Negotiate with service providers (freight forwarders, clearing agents, shipping lines) for competitive terms.
- Monitor supplier performance, import lead times, and cost variances.
- Prepare and share monthly reports on landed costs, import expenses, duty payments, and stock position.
- Provide insights on cost drivers and improvement opportunities.
- Support audit processes with accurate documentation.
- Track and report monthly category KPIs and performance against targets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, International Trade, or related field.
- 2–3 years’ experience in import/export operations, preferably in retail, FMCG, or manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan customs processes, iCMS, HS codes, tariffs, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in landed cost calculations and supporting product pricing decisions.
- Advanced knowledge of product mix analysis, including category performance, margin evaluation, stock turnover, and pricing impact.
- IT proficiency: Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- ERP knowledge – intermediate level.
- Strong analytical, presentation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and documentation skills.
