- Develop and execute annual technical plans aligned with the company's strategic objectives and budget.
- Prepare and manage the technical operational and capital expenditure (CAPEX) budgets.
- Plan for long-term replacement and upgrading of major assets.
- Allocate and monitor weekly tasks through structured performance dialogues.
- Track and report asset utilization metrics on a weekly basis.
- Monitor external technical trends and post-related stakeholder developments.
- Research and propose best practices in asset management and optimization.
- Supervise and mentor a team of plant operators, mechanics, and technical officers.
- Foster a safety-first culture, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective task delegation and follow-up.
- Manage the preventive and corrective maintenance schedule for: Pool cars and transport vehicles, Port equipment: hoppers, grabs, fenders, wheel loaders &Office equipment and utilities.
- Lead diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical faults.
- Ensure proper branding and utilization of company equipment.
- Maintain inspection, servicing, and usage logs for all company assets.
- Coordinate technical stock and spare parts procurement and utilization.
- Ensure timely availability, mobilization, and functioning of port and yard equipment.
- Oversee trimming operations, ensuring efficient machine-hour use.
- Support safety compliance and operational readiness for internal and third-party users.
- Control operational costs related to technical activities.
- Facilitate timely renewal of port passes and technical approvals (e.g., hot work permits, specialized equipment use, NTSA & OSHA compliance).
- Participate in technical projects including asset acquisition and infrastructure works.
- Ensure conformance to company quality standards and best practices.
- Implement and enforce maintenance quality standards and safety protocols.
- Investigate equipment-related incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Identify technical risks and implement mitigation measures.
- Maintain accurate records of: Maintenance history, Equipment manuals.
- Cost and invoice tracking.
- Valid inspections (NTSA, OSHA, QMS).
- Ensure alignment with the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor in line with the company's operations and strategic goals.
- 100% utilization of machines.
- 100% revenue generation from machines.
- Zero breakdowns.
- Cost effective maintenance and repairs.
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Certificate of Grade I/II/III in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (Kenya NITA certified or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years in technical operations or equipment maintenance.
- Experience in port or heavy equipment maintenance is an added advantage.
- Valid NTSA inspection understanding, knowledge of OSHA regulations, familiarity with QMS documentation.
