Through its eleven country presence across Southern, East and West Africa (Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Swaziland, Tanzania and Uganda), its subsidiaries provide simple, appropriate and accessible consumer, microfinance and savings solutions to the financially under-served.Head of CollectionsJob SummaryThe incumbent will be responsible for managing and lead staff in order to ensure that staff are competent sufficiently trained, that appropriate collection tactics are implemented, and that the effective and efficient Credit Control procedures are maintained to ensure the minimization of the impairment loss.Job Details
  • Ensure that all the necessary systems and controls are in place to properly manage and maximize the rehabilitation of accounts in arrears.
  • To manage and control recoveries strategies and campaigns with the aim of maximizing collection effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Operate within delegated authority levels, and ensure that staff reporting in have sufficient levels of mandate to perform day-to-day operations.
  • Continuously investigate and re-evaluate collection process in terms of international best practice.
  • Resolve all customer queries that arise on accounts.
  • Establish a centralized, integrated and seamless Rehabilitation and Recoveries model that supports the business objectives of the Credit function.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and supervisory requirements, to protect the reputation of the Group and to avoid legal action/sanction in respect of regulatory compliance matters.
  • Report any breaches and exposures to the business unit head
Requirements
  • 5 years continuous relevant experience, with at least 3 years Supervisory experience
  • Energetic self-starter who is prepared to challenge the status quo and to execute changes as appropriate.
  • Leadership and People Management skills in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation skills to achieve desirable outcomes for the bank at all times.
  • Networking and Relationship Management
  • A Degree in relevant field from a recognized and well-established University.
