Our client, a dynamic logistics company with established operations in the Middle East and a growing footprint in East Africa, is seeking to recruit a .This role will be responsible for leading, designing, and overseeing end-to-end logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, last-mile delivery, and overall supply chain execution. The Head of Operations will play a key role in optimizing performance, building efficient systems and processes, developing and mentoring the operations team, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional service to clients. The ideal candidate Must have prior experience in the logistics sector.Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and execution of the country's logistics and distribution strategy.
Set up operational infrastructure including warehouses, transport networks, and delivery hubs.
Oversee implementation of operational policies, systems, and SOPs in line with best practices.
Manage inbound and outbound logistics, last-mile delivery, inventory control, and fleet operations.
Build, manage, and develop high-performing operations and logistics teams.
Ensure adherence to health and safety standards, transport and customs regulations, and local Labor laws.
Develop and manage operational budgets and cost-saving initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Management. A Master’s degree is a plus.
8 - 12 years of progressive experience in logistics/transport/supply chain, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Strong understanding of the logistics landscape in Kenya and East Africa (e.g. road infrastructure, customs, transport costs).
Experience setting up or scaling logistics operations from the ground up is highly desirable.
Strategic thinker with strong execution capability.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent planning, coordination, and problem-solving ability.
High attention to detail with a performance and process improvement mindset.
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
